If you like to travel with your pup, Erie is dog-friendly! Many businesses offer great places to stay, eat and play with your furry friend. Here’s the scoop on pet friendly hotels, dog friendly attractions and restaurants.
Erie County has many lodging options that are pet-friendly. Visit our Stay page and look for the paw print icon next to their listing! Because hotel guidelines vary, make sure to check with the hotel and review their pet policy.
Presque Isle State Park is Erie’s top attraction for beaches and outdoor recreation, and a great place to let your leashed pup splash around! Pets are allowed on the unguarded beaches that are not marked as designated swimming areas. All dogs must be on leashes no longer than six feet and visitors are reminded to help keep the park clean and pick up after your pet. Beaches are guarded from Memorial Day to Labor Day. On beaches inside designated guarded zones, leashed dogs are permitted along the tree line area only. Click here to view a park map.

In addition to the sandy beaches, the 13.5 mile-long Karl Boys Multi-Purpose Paved Trail is a popular place for walking your dog. The trail follows the entire perimeter of Presque Isle State Park with scenic views of Presque Isle Bay and Lake Erie throughout. In addition to the trails, pets are welcome in all picnic areas.
Asbury Woods - Asbury Woods is a dog-friendly greenspace with 205 acres of fields, forests, and wetlands. Leashed dogs are welcome on the Greenway Trail, Guided Trail, Touvell Trail, and at Brown's Farm Barn. Pets are not permitted during events and festivals.
Embrace the charm of dog-friendly outdoor dining year-round in the Erie region and share a meal with your furry companion by your side at various eateries equipped with outdoor spaces. During the warmer months, you can pull up a chair, grab a pint of Railway Hefeweizen, and watch the trains go by at The Brewerie’s pet-friendly Track Side Garden (Thursdays 5-8 p.m.), enjoy a foot-long hot dog with your favorite fur dog at Sara’s or watch the sun go down while listening to live local music at the Edinboro Lake Resort and Sunset Grill. If it’s too cold to sit outside, and barking is kept to a minimum, dogs are more than welcome to come inside Black Monk Brewery and enjoy a drink with their humans. The brewery even supplies complimentary water bowls for your pup.
Each summer, the Erie SeaWolves host Bark in the Park games, where guests can bring their well-mannered, leashed dogs to UPMC Park for a ballgame and special promotions. Each game features dog-themed in-game entertainment and dogs will have the comforts of a designated "Poop Zone" to handle their business. After each Bark at the Park Night at UPMC Park, dogs and owners are invited down to the field to run the bases. This unique experience of running the bases on a professional baseball field is something you and your dog will never forget! For the comfort of all ballpark guests, select seating sections will be designated as dog-free areas.
